CyberKnife Offers An Effective Non-Surgical Cancer Solution

At Orange County CyberKnife and Radiation Oncology Center, our doctors want you to fully understand the effective CyberKnife cancer treatment that has revolutionized today’s cancer treatment options. Doctors recommend CyberKnife as the best option to other cancer treatments because it is non-invasive, exceptionally accurate, requires no hospitalization and leaves no after effects. Its pinpoint laser system is highly effective, and clinically proven for both cancerous and noncancerous tumors. Additionally, experts designed CyberKnife to create the most comfortable treatment for you.

Revolutionizing Cancer Treatment with Accuray Precision

Orange County CyberKnife and Radiation Oncology Center is proud to announce we are the first provider of the Accuray Precision Treatment Planning System in Southern California. This is a smarter treatment planning system, with multi-modality image fusion allowing clinicians to build optimized and precise treatment plans. Accuray Precision is a highly innovative technology that increases efficiency and effectiveness for patients undergoing retreatment. Accuray PreciseRTX retreatment enables importation of previous treatment plan data from Accuray and non-Accuray systems, and automatically contours onto any new treatment planning CT image.

Ironically, the CyberKnife Robotic Radiosurgery System does not utilize any kind of cutting device. Instead, it beams high doses of radiation directly to your tumor while you rest on our comfortable treatment couch. It is the only dedicated SRS – SBRT – SABR system. The flexible, robotic arm of CyberKnife can deliver this radiation anywhere in the body, including hard-to-find spots in the brain, head, neck, spine, lung, prostate, liver, pancreas, and other soft tissue. This minimizes the radiation exposure to healthy surrounding tissue and organs and limits some of the short and long-term side effects common with conventional treatments.

CyberKnife Offers Pinpoint Accuracy

The flexibility of the CyberKnife robotic arm allows it to approach the tumor from the best possible angles, following and targeting the tumor as it moves in tiny increments. It’s precision leaves little chance that healthy tissue or organs surrounding the tumor are affected. Conventional static or fixed external radiation systems can only treat a tumor by rotating a large machine around your body, treating the entire area the tumor is moving in to make sure it reaches the cancerous cells. This means with conventional systems radiation likely reaches cells around the tumor area as well, which increases negative side effects.

Unlike conventional methods of external radiation delivery, CyberKnife is made to move with your body and the tumor, tracking your movements and adjusting the beams of high-dose radiation directly to the cancer using sophisticated software and continuous x-rays. You do not have to be immobilized with stabilizing frames bolted to your head, body casts, or breathing-limitation devices that try to limit you or your tumor’s movement. Essentially, the precision of the CyberKnife follows your tumor and attacks and kills cancerous cells on target and without interruption.

Convenient Cancer Care

With CyberKnife, your cancer treatment will only include one short treatment per day, for one to five days in an outpatient setting, not the weeks or sometimes months of conventional radiation therapy. Since there is no surgery, there is no chance for surgical infections, minimal to no pain, no anesthesia, and no hospital stay. CyberKnife is often used as a non-invasive alternative to surgery, but it can also be used in conjunction with surgery, chemotherapy and other treatments. For cancer patients with inoperable or hard-to-reach tumors, those who may not be physically able to withstand surgery, or those looking for a non-surgical treatment option, CyberKnife provides a new hope for fighting cancer. After each treatment, most patients quickly resume their normal daily lives. The experience and knowledge of the Orange County CyberKnife physicians and CyberKnife’s integrated, closed-loop system that constantly adjusts to your optimum treatment make the treatment extremely safe.

What Types Of Cancer Does CyberKnife Treat?

Treatments outside the skull, still delivered in two to five sessions, is called stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) or stereotactic ablative radiotherapy (SABR). CyberKnife is clinically proven effective in treating:
