Our extremely qualified Radiation Oncology team offers innovative ways to treat a wide variety of cancers and eliminate tumors. Dr. Randy Wei is a board-certified Radiation Oncologist whose clinical practice focuses on the comprehensive care of children and adults with cancer. He is an integral part of the Orange County Cyberknife team and the Radiation Oncology department.
Dr. Wei received his medical and graduate degrees at the University of California, Irvine, as part of the Medical Scientist Training Program. He then completed his internal medicine internship and radiation oncology residency at the University of California, Irvine. He trained with Dr. Nisar Syed and Dr. Ajmel Puthawala, two world-renowned cancer specialists, in interstitial brachytherapy and hyperthermia techniques.
Dr. Randy Wei is a member of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO), Los Angeles Radiological Society, American College of Radiation Oncology, and American Brachytherapy Society. In addition, he volunteers on the Medical Advisory Board for Make-A-Wish Orange County and Imperial Empire. Dr. Wei is on the medical staff at Long Beach and Saddleback Memorial Medical Center.
Dr. Wei recognizes the unique needs of cancer patients and their families after his own father was treated for head and neck cancer. His philosophy on care is to empower his patients with education on their cancer and treatment options, enable patients and caregivers to make informed medical decisions, and provide them access to the most advanced radiation treatments.
Over the past decade, Dr. Randy Wei has published over 21 peer-reviewed manuscripts and 3 book chapters in journals such as Radiotherapy and Oncology, Practical Radiation Oncology, Medical Dosimetry, and Molecular and Cell Biology. His clinical interests are in cancer biology, pediatrics, brachytherapy, quality and safety, and palliative care. He has given oral presentations at the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) and Radiological Society of North American (RSNA) Annual Meeting. He was awarded the American Society for Clinical Oncology Conquer Cancer Foundation Award and RSNA Roentgen Research Award.
