Asif R. Harsolia (Medical Director)

Asif R. Harsolia, M.D. is a board certified cancer specialist in Radiation Oncology.Originally from Michigan, Dr. Harsolia obtained his Bachelors of Science in Biopsychology from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.  He then went on to obtain his medical doctorate from the University of Michigan Medical School with honors in radiation oncology.

Following this, he succesfully completed his internship and residency at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan where he had the privilege of training with some of the world’s top specialists in the field of radiation oncology obtaining highly specialized skills in advanced radiation techniques such as brachytherapy, image-guidance, radiosurgery, and intensity modulated radiation therapy.  While there, he also served as the Chief Resident.

He has authored multiple scientific publications in the fields of breast, prostate, and lung cancer resulting in multiple awards for his work including the first place clinical research award from the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) for his work on breast cancer, the first place award in the Delmar H. Mahrt Resident Research Competition from the Michigan Society of Therapeutic Radiologists and Oncologists, the RSNA Roentgen Resident/Fellow Research Award and the American College of Radiation Oncology (ACRO) Wong Scholarship Award.

Dr. Harsolia retains memberships in numerous oncologic societies.

He is on the medical staff at Orange Coast Memorial, Long Beach Memorial, and Saddleback Memorial Hospitals and is a clinical professor of radiation oncology at the University of California – Irvine.

A.M. Nisar Syed

A.M.  Nisar Syed is a board certified cancer specialist in Radiation Oncology and is recognized as one of the international pioneers of modern brachytherapy.

After receiving his medical doctorate in India, he completed his internship, surgical residency and served as a senior registrar in the United Kingdom as well as in Edinborough, Scotland.  He then completed a surgical fellowship in Chicago, Illinois before moving to Washington, D.C. to train in radiation with Dr. Erlich Henschcke, an early pioneer in the field of brachytherapy.

As an Assistant Professor at USC Medical School, Dr. Syed developed a number of revolutionary brachytherapy procedures for prostate, breast, rectum, and cervical cancer. These procedures have become the international standard of care in the use of brachytherapy treatments.

He has devoted much of his time to the training of physicians around the world, as well as the training of residents from USC, UC Irvine, UCLA, Loma Linda University, Stanford and many other schools of medicine.

Dr. Syed is the Founder of the American Brachytherapy Society (formerly the American Endocurietherapy Society) and has served as its Secretary, Program Chair, Lecturer and President. He is the Founding Editor-in-Chief for the “Journal of Brachytherapy International.”

He currently holds six academic appointments including three Clinical Professorships in the Departments of Radiation Oncology at the University of Southern California School of Medicine, University of California Irvine School of Medicine and the Los Angeles County – Martin Luther King Jr. – Drew Medical Center.

He has published more than 50 scientific publications and has given more than 100 formal presentations related to scientific research data.

Dr. Syed has also served as the Chancellor and Vice-Chair of the American College of Radiation Oncology and as Chairman of the Radiation Oncology Committee of the Indo-American Cancer Society.

In 2017, Dr. Syed received the Celebration of Life Medical Honoree Award from the American Cancer Society, which is presented to a high-profile individual in the community that has a close connection to cancer, and continues to give back to the community in his/her area of expertise or interest.

Linda Chan

Linda Chan is a is a board certified cancer specialist in Radiation Oncology.

Originally from Orange County, Dr. Chan did her undergraduate studies at Harvard University double majoring in Biomedical Science and Health Care Policy.  She stayed on to obtain her medical doctorate from Harvard Medical School.  She also did research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Department of Radiation Oncology, under a NIH Cancer Research Fellowship and Grunebaum Cancer fellowship.  Following this she went on to complete her residency program at the University of California – San Francisco, where she also served as Chief Resident.

She has authored multiple scientific publications on breast cancer, prostate cancer, and the molecular markers used to diagnose and track cancer.  In addition, she works on several committees of national health care policy, both through the American Society of Radiation Oncologists (ASTRO) and American College of Radiology (ACR).

Dr. Chan retains memberships in numerous oncologic societies.

Peyman Kabolizadeh

“Dr. Kabolizadeh is a board certified Radiation Oncologist. After completing his undergraduate degree in chemistry, Dr. Kabolizadeh was accepted into the combined MD/PhD program at Medical College of Virginia. He was then recruited to the radiation oncology residency program at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center where he gained extensive experience in advanced techniques including Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy, Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy and Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SBRT/SRS). He then completed fellowship training in Proton Therapy at Harvard Medical School/Massachusetts General Hospital.”

He is Joining us at Memorial Radiation Oncology Medical Group from Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine where he was the director of Beaumont Proton Therapy Center, Proton Therapy fellowship program director and also the associate director of radiation oncology residency program. He was the chair of gastrointestinal and sarcoma tumor boards, and a member of Wayne County Medical Society delegate body and a member of Wayne County Committee on Legislation and Community Affairs. He has been invited in multiple occasions as a visiting professor and to give grand rounds in multiple institutions including University of Pittsburgh, Virginia Commonwealth University and Johns Hopkins University. He is a reviewer of multiple journals and also a Member of American Board of Radiology National Board Exam Developing Committee/Oral Examiner. Dr. Kabolizadeh is active in radiation oncology research authoring numerous articles, book chapters, and abstracts and has received multiple awards and grants.

Dr. Kabolizadeh’s philosophy is to provide excellent multidisciplinary care while working with his patients to deliver compassionate and high quality care.

Randy Wei

As a radiation oncologist, Dr. Wei’s clinical practice focuses on the comprehensive care of children and adults with cancer. Dr. Wei received his medical and graduate degrees at the University of California, Irvine, as part of the Medical Scientist Training Program. He then completed his internal medicine internship and radiation oncology residency at the University of California, Irvine. He trained with Dr. Nisar Syed and Dr. Ajmel Puthawala in interstitial brachytherapy and hyperthermia techniques. He served as Chief Resident for the final 2 years of residency.

Dr. Wei recognizes the unique needs of cancer patients and their families after his own father was treated for head and neck cancer. His philosophy on care is to empower his patients with education on their cancer and treatment options, enable patients and caregivers to make informed medical decisions, and provide them access to the most advanced radiation treatments such as intensity-modulated radiotherapy, stereotactic radiosurgery, interstitial brachytherapy, and proton therapy.

Over the past decade, Dr. Wei has published over 21 peer-reviewed manuscripts and 3 book chapters in journals such as Radiotherapy and Oncology, Practical Radiation Oncology, Medical Dosimetry, and Molecular and Cell Biology. His clinical interests are in cancer biology, pediatrics, brachytherapy, quality and safety, and palliative care. Dr. Wei received his Ph.D. from the lab of Dr. Wen-Hwa Lee who cloned the retinoblastoma tumor suppressor gene and did pioneering research on the mechanism of tumor suppressors in cancers. He has given oral presentations at the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) and Radiological Society of North American (RSNA) Annual Meeting, and he was awarded the American Society for Clinical Oncology Conquer Cancer Foundation Award and RSNA Roentgen Research Award.

Dr. Wei is a member of ASTRO, Los Angeles Radiological Society, American College of Radiation Oncology, and American Brachytherapy Society. In addition, he volunteers on the Medical Advisory Board for Make-A-Wish Orange County and Imperial Empire. Dr. Wei is on the medical staff at Long Beach and Saddleback Memorial Medical Center.
